從2017 年開始，廢除死刑推動聯盟在全台各地召開公民審議會議，邀請各地民眾就死刑的替代方案進行公共討論。雖然正式的報告仍在準備當中，但從初步的整理可以得知，在瞭解相關資訊並進行公開討論後，接近三分之一的民眾選擇的死刑替代刑罰，較他們參加討論之前所主張者為輕。而且，參與討論的民眾也更願意進一步討論諸如監獄改革、被害人保護、犯罪預防等具體的刑事相關政策。

In 2017, the Taiwan Alliance to End the Death Penalty initiated a public deliberation project inviting citizens from different parts of Taiwan to discuss alternatives to the death penalty. Although the final report of the project has not yet been completed, yet initial observations reveal that nearly one third of the participants argue for less severe alternative punishment than they had proposed before participating. Furthermore, they are more willing to discuss related issues such as prison reform, protection of victims and crime prevention.
